My mom and I love to shop together. We frequently seek out and shop at thrift shops, mostly for books, but you never know what else you will find! We often go to the IMPACT! Thrift Store in Hatboro but decided to set out on an adventure yesterday to find the Montgomeryville store. It is RIGHT across the street from the Montgomeryville Mall, where the Book Closeout store used to be. Prices can’t be beat, .90 for a hardback, .35 for a paperback. This is a great location, easy to get to and lots of free parking. This location has a lot of furniture and an entire room dedicated to just books! They also have clothes, sporting goods, kitchen goods and a section up front with a silent auction section and some nicer, more expensive items on display.
There are NO toys at Impact. None of the locations carry toys due to so many safety recalls. If you visit the website, you can check out the calendar of sales on their “specials” page. We happened to go on their monthly 25% off day! I got a whole bag of (newer) books and a PC video game for my son for $3.02! My mom got a very pretty blouse and a book for under $5. I can’t wait to go back and look in their book section longer (without the kids nagging me incessantly).
The Hatboro location has metered street parking (a quarter buys an hour) and there is a lot behind it with a lot of free parking, just a bit further to walk to the store. They have a pretty good selection of stuff too, especially in the bric-a-brac section! There is a nice sized book section too (same prices too) but not as large as the Montgomeryville section.
I haven’t yet visited the third location, Norristown. I am definitely planning on it, it looks huge!
All locations accept donations. Here is a list of what they accept:
